Tiouae is located towards north after the bridge of Tiponite, in a valley at 3 km of the entry on the RT1 road. This road leads to the tribe on left side of the river, where a majestic mangrove is spread out to the river’s mouth. Here you can enjoy a beautyful spectacle between two mountainous blanks. Just in the middle the tribe offers nice stroll.

You will be welcome for staying by inhabitant, under box at Mrs Poinine Suzanne, Mrs Poinine Marie-France or Popani Bélé. Tiouae comprises many traditionnal dwellings. People live from crop like taros, yams, chouchoutes, pumpkins, vanilla, papaws, grapefruit, coconuts, corossols, mangos, tangerines, oranges, pineapple, apples cythère and especially from fishing of river shrimps, and hunting of stag and wild pig. Collect also coffee in July which guarantee an extra income. An animation of craft industry and sculpture occurs on Wednesday. Tiouae has a temple of the Free Protestant church.

You can lodge by "Jean Dihan" who proposes traditional meals with chicken of farm, wild pig, nautou and dogfish in April, shrimps of river or fume eels: under reservation.

If you are fond of stroll you will find at the beginning of the tribe possibilities of excursions accessible to everybody: families and also very good walkers with an experienced guide. You will discover flora and fauna.
